I love love love taking photographs in natural light and it is at the heart of how I photograph newborns, families and weddings. It allows sessions to feel calm unhurried and natural, creating images that are timeless and full of connection. It creates images that feel timeless and real rather than styled for a trend or social media.
Whether I am photographing a newborn, growing family or lifestyle session natural light offers a gentle, unobtrusive approach which makes it much more comfortable and relaxed experience for children and adults alike.
Soft, flattering light for newborn and lifestyle photography
Natural light creates soft shadows and warm, natural skin tones that flatter every age from - newborn to parents and children. It enhances detail without distraction and leads to natural images rather than those that feel posed.
Without the use of harsh flashes or artificial lighting sessions feel peaceful and natural, allowing everyone to relax into the experience. However, the reality of living in Ireland is that despite best efforts some days are just grey, on those occasion I can add extra light with a simple additional light on the camera.

Working with natural light allows sessions to take a more relaxed pace, with time for breaks, movement and moments in between. This is especially important when photographing families and children, where flexibility and patience create the most meaningful images.
